Having been a client of his and now a book owner, I was not at all disappointed to read the book and refresh all I learned from him. I refer back to the book quite often to make sure that I'm doing all he taught me, and I'm grateful for him and my marriage EVERY day. It's easy to understand with very helpful points. I wish we could sit down and do some of these exercises!
This book is extremely helpful and practical, using problem-solving skills and other tools for communication. Lots of people complain about “communication problems” with their spouse; here are sensible and useful tools that will make a difference.
Highly recommend this outstanding book. What's needed for success in a loving marriage. How to communicate your needs and how not to dismiss the needs of the one you love. Eye opening and honest insight on how we trip ourselves up. I understand our relationship so much better. Its amazing how much better you can make your marriage with this book. Even if you are angry now, the new way you learn to communicate will change everything. A must read if you feel anything is not quite what it was. I'm truly impressed with Michael Drouilhets book.
This fantastic book will guide you through the process of how to communicate effectively with your significant other while focusing on strengthening and/or rebuilding your relationship with each other. It's a great place to start whether you are in a serious relationship looking to take the next step in getting married, are happily married and are looking to further strengthen your marriage, or are unhappy and dissatisfied with the current state of your marriage and are looking for guidance on how to get it back to where it truly belongs, at the top. This book is an easy read. The concepts, examples, and short stories are very relatable and hit home. The content is laid out in a manner that is very eye opening and helpful right from the beginning. Not only has the content within this booked helped improve my marriage but it also is helping me become a better husband, which in turn is improving the quality of my life.
I think we enter marriage with the best of intentions, but as individuals with differing ways of communicating. Misunderstandings are inevitable and can be devastating. To me, the core concept of this book is establishing a partnership, and that makes so much sense. It goes on to identify and teach the skills that make that possible. It would be a public service to have copies available wherever marriage licenses are issued!
